, am ‘eencercat mereu s? readuc ‘een prim-plan elementele vechi ?i atmosferice.

(am aflat deja c? ai c’e2ntat ‘een diferite trupe)?
Paul T
A fost bine.L-am ajutat mult cunosc’e2nd muzica rave, el fiind pe atunci nou ‘een scena drumandbass.’cen schimb el m-a ajutat cu produc?ia efectiv? ?i aranjamentul instrumental.Totodat? am c’e2ntat chitar?-bass pentru c’e2teva piese inclusiv Dirty Harry.

Sunt instrumentele digitale tentante pentru tine?
Paul T
Ca s? fiu sincer, am folosit mereu o combina?ie ‘eentre instrumentele reale ?i softuri digitale.

Paul T

Enough joking around, what..s your musical background?Paul TIt all started when my Dad signed me up for piano lessons at the age of 12, I reached Grade 5 but by then I was 16 and beginning to get caught up in the early hardcore scene of 1991 so my interest in piano lessons was slightly distracted !- hehe. Going to raves was a big influence on wanting to DJ and I brought myself some cheap decks, I think they were Marantz belt drives, they were terrible but they were something to get started on. As I progressed with playing out, I soon wanted to make my own tracks to play to the crowds , so I invested in my first studio via a bank loan and I quickly started making my own songs. I was then signed to Conflict DJ agency in 1995 playing mostly in the South East of England. As the drum and bass scene started to change in 1999 to 2000, I wanted to experiment with other types of music and left drum and bass for about 3 years to pursue the bass guitar. I did a diploma course at bass tech which is a great college in London. Then I found myself playing in various bands doing mostly gig venues across London including The Garage in Highbury,The Mean Fiddler on Charing Cross road,. the Bull and Gate in Kentish TownThe styles of music I played in these bands were trip hop, dub, alternative, funk, jazz. Eventhough, I still love these styles of music I was missing dance music and quickly made the switch back to Drum and Bass. The rest is history…ReashCan you name what has changed since 1993 (when you started dj-ing) and the effects those things had on you?Paul TThe music has changed amazingly since then and it has divided into many different sub groups of Drum and Bass, which is a shame but as with any niche when it becomes more popular there is always going to be a split in tastes, so this was inevitable really. I always liked good vibes with my music so when I DJ I try to stick to that and bring old school positive vibes and atmosphere.ReashDid working with Adam F helped you production-wise? ( we allreasy know you perfomed in a band)Paul TWorking with Adam was good. I helped him with my knowledge of rave music as he was new to the dnb scene and he helped me with production and arrangement I also played bass on some of his songs including Dirty Harry.ReashSince you have the knowledge of real intstruments…is digital tempting for you?Paul TTo be honest since I started back with drum and bass in 2002 I have used a combination of computers and real instruments. Its been good to have had the band experience to give my tracks a more live and organic sound. To date I have played live bass in some songs and worked with sessions players for sounds such as sax, flute and piano .I really like to include live male and female vocalists too. This combined with the synths sampling and editing, makes its so much fun in the studio.ReashWhat happend with Built 2 Last?Paul TBuilt 2 Last finished because I wanted to commit more time to me making beats and djing.ReashHow can anyone get a deal with a good booking acengy?Paul TI`m a great believer in being your own agent no one will try harder to get you work than when you are very commited.ReashWhat..s the curent status of the scene from your point of view?Paul TI think the scene is kind of waiting for the vinyl and digital thing to settle down. Itquote s very hard to get songs to vinyl at the moment with the sales being so bad. I am going to start putting mp3s up on my website www.djpault.com to see how that goes.ReashDoes little Paul T share your passion for music?Paul TLittle Paul T ? Iquote m still young at 33- lol ,no kids for me yet’85ReashCocoa or vanilla?Paul TVanilla is the one at least you can always add some more flavour afterwards’85
